With my birthday party coming up this weekend, I’m thinking about Death Note a lot. So, each day this week, I’ll publish a new post inspired by my theme. Think I can do it?
I think it was the day after my last post that I was talking to a friend about Death Note, again. She asked the question: “Who would you rather date it they were real: L, Light, Near, Ryuk, or Mello?”
Thinking about it, I could find a reason why none of them would be good dating material.
As our conversation went on, we added more characters to the options, and I challenged myself to find a reason why I couldn’t date any of them, either. I was going to write a post about it then, but I thought it’d begin a Death Note overload.
But, oh well, here we go….
Light Yagami
I’d be the first to admit that yes, Light is good looking, especially for an anime character. However, he has quite a few personality issues that rule him out. After all, who wants to go out with a psychopath with a God complex? (Not to mention that he forced a scenario killing off a favourite character….)
And everyone familiar with the series saw how he treated his two girlfriends. He was using them both just to help him with his goal. And he was cheating on both of them.
I don’t know about you, but no matter how good-looking he is, this is one character I would not consider.
Ryuk
Lets just go for the most obvious reason here: Ryuk is a shinigami, not a human. Not only that, but he’s just a spectator — his main focus is not about people’s feelings.
Nate River
Near is a little spoilt L-wannabe who doesn’t care about anyone’s feelings. ‘Nuff said.
Mihael Keehl
I never liked Mello, right from the start. Despite that, I actually found it hard coming up with a good reason. (Not that I didn’t come up with some.)
Near doesn’t use his emotions. Mello, on the other hand, lets his emotions completely take over.He’s also involved in some powerful and dangerous Mafia stuff.
It’s late, and I need to go to bed. I’ll post more tomorrow.
